Above being Tintswalo’s Managing Director, Michelle also oversees Tintswalo at Waterfall’s hotel operations directly. Michelle ensures that the day to day conferencing and guest experience at the Hotel are nothing less than exceptional.

“I began my career in the hospitality industry in 1996 when I was hired by Southern Sun Hotels as and admin assistant in the housekeeping department. I successfully worked my way up within Southern Sun over the next 13 years ranging from Housekeeping Manager, Rooms Duty Manager, Guest Services Manager and Assistant General Manager Duties.

“In March 2010 I joined Tintswalo at Waterfall, a prestigious and elegant five star boutique hotel as the Operations Manager. In February 2013 I was appointed General Manager of the property. This has been a long time dream of mine and embraces the challenge ahead.

“My mission at Tintswalo Waterfall is to push the boundaries of service standards and provide our guests with the memorable personalized Tintswalo experience.

“As a classically trained chef I join the Tintswalo at Waterfall team in November 2010 as the Executive Chef. In this time I was responsible for all menu’s and collaboration with the operations team to ensure that all meals are of the very best standard

In May 2012 I was presented with a new challenge as Food and Beverage Manager for the hotel. In this new position I will be overseeing the kitchen as well as the bar and everything related.

Tintswalo at Waterfall has always had very high standards when it came to food and wine. I look forward to take these standards to new heights.”

“My job is to look after existing and potential corporate clients for Tintswalo at Waterfall, focussing on conferencing and accommodation. I am extremely passionate about building strong relationships and loyalty with the people I am privileged to meet and do business with on a daily basis.

“I joined Tintswalo at Waterfall in October 2010 as a reservationist, and in December 2010 I joined the operations team as Functions Manager. I managed all weddings and big events from an operational perspective.

In 2012 I was presented with a new challenge, Key Accounts Consultant for Weddings & Events. This position entails to market Tintswalo at Waterfall as a top wedding and event destination.

I love working at Tintswalo at Waterfall because it is such a unique venue that can host a wide variety of different beautiful events and functions. From gorgeous and stylish weddings to fun and quirky events.”

“I am responsible for processing room and conference reservations from the first contact made, right up until the event, from special requirements to menu options to payment detail. I liaise with the relevant hotel staff about the bookings to ensure that the guest experience exceeds their expectations.
Since my position is so driven by good customer service, it gives me great personal reward to see a function at Tintswalo go off so well.

“I started at Tintswalo at Waterfall in August 2011 in the Reservations Department. As a reservationist, I handled all enquiries that ranged from room reservations and functions to conferencing. My duties were to gather all information from my clients, then liaise with all departments to ensure that all the client’s requirements are met.

“As of March 2013 I was offered the opportunity to over see Conferencing as a Duty Manager at Tintswalo at Waterfall. As a Conference Duty Manager, I take care of all conferencing and ensure that clients are well taken care of during their time at Tintswalo at Waterfall. My goal as Conference Duty Manager will be to make every delegate feel at home and to make the experience at Tintswalo at Waterfall unforgettable.

“As PA to our Managing Director, I am here to ensure that the MD’s time is as well spent. I act as a mediator between the MD and outside contacts, screening calls, emails, and queries, handling what I can, and presenting to her what needs her consideration.

I am blessed to work at Tintswalo, because of the staff that I work with. We are a tight-knit family, and at Tintswalo, we have something unique and breath-taking to offer our guests. It’s rewarding to be a part of something so great.”

“I have been a chef for more than 20 years. Being a chef wasn’t in my mind in my early years, but things changed when I got a temporary job in a restaurant. I started seeing food in a different light. So I started cooking lessons with the chef in the restaurant, and worked my way up the kitchen ‘ladder’ from the bottom with lots of hard work, determination and passion.

It was fun at first, but then I started to love it. I have been working at Tintswalo Waterfall as head chef since 2006, where I have served such guests as Nelson Mandela, Oprah Winfrey and many more. It is with great gratitude and excitement that August 2012 brought about my promotion to Executive Chef, and I am now afforded the opportunity to lead the Tintswalo kitchen to new levels of service and guest satisfaction. My favorite meal is a tasty sirloin steak with mash and jus. My influences are mainly Italian with modern South African twists.”

“I come from a small rural village in Limpopo by the name of Metz, located adjacent to Tzaneen. After completing school, I went on to study at Tzaneen Academy for Learning. I began working in 2001, and have gradually worked my way up from junior chef, to kitchen management to Senior Sous Chef, in various prestigious kitchens across the country. In November 2010, I was able to join the Tintswalo family at the Tintswalo at Waterfall lodge, Midrand.

I am excited to be part of the team, and hope to exceed our guests’ expectations. I look forward to sharing my knowledge with the kitchen staff and then of course to continually learn from them too”

“With extensive bush lodge experience, I joined the Tintswalo at Waterfall team in March 2012 as Duty Manager, overseeing Housekeeping. The hospitality and warmth of bush lodges can be seen in the daily operations of the hotel. The intimacy of Tintswalo at Waterfall was something that drew me to the establishment from the start.

The rooms division of Tintswalo at Waterfall is very homely and inviting. My goal at the hotel is to maintain this feeling and to develop it, to create a comfortable and unforgettable guest experience for all hotel guests”
