Introducing Chef's Warehouse at Tintswalo Atlantic

In its first few months of operation, the new Chef’s Warehouse at Tintswalo Atlantic has already proved to be a hit among local Cape Town resident.

Tables have been filling up as quick as Instagram feeds, as people soak up the amazing ocean-side setting and enjoy the delectable Chef’s Warehouse food.

The restaurant's head chef, Braam Beyers, has been at the forefront of the new and inspiring menu. The up-and-coming talent has worked with the renowned chefs Leon Tomlin and Ivor Jones at Chef’s Warehouse in Constantia for four years, and he has now been given the opportunity to head up the team at Tintswalo Atlantic.

“It’s a whole new challenge for me!” he says. “It’s a little bit surreal!

“Being a Chef is something I've known I’ve always wanted to do,” says Braam. Having studied in Stellenbosch, and spent a number of years working in France, Braam returned to Cape Town to work under the mentorship of Tomlin and Jones and the Chef’s Warehouse team at Baeu Constantia. “I’m pretty much born and bred there,” he says. After four years of growth, Braam is extremely excited to now head up the team down on the ocean at Tintswalo.

"Every single time you think you are going to get used to it, you get down here and you are blown away by the setting. It still wows you every single time!”

Tintswalo Atlantic is a completely unique environment, sandwiched between the mountain and the sea, and Braam hopes to incorporate the surrounding wilderness into the menu.

“It’s important that I bring the elements of the environment into my menus,” he says. “You have got the ocean in front of you, you have got the fynbos behind you. It would almost be a sin not to incorporate it”

The local fishing marketplaces in Hout Bay will provide a source of seafood and inspiration for the team. “Now that I have access to a marketplace like Hout Bay, I’m definitely going to be using it more often. I want to continually touch base with the fishermen there and see what they have to offer. I think it’s very necessary, and it's also good to support these local fishermen; Especially after what we have all been through in 2020; I think it's important that we support each other and support locals.”

As the summer season arrives, and 2021 promises a better year for all, Braam and the team at Chef’s Warehouse are busier than ever, and they look forward to seeing you there soon.
