With a great love for Africa's wilderness, wildlife, and people, Tintswalo’s Corbett and Goosen families have long been dedicated to giving back. We are proud to channel this passion through Friends of Tintswalo, our non-profit initiative dedicated to spreading the message of conservation, uplifting local communities, and creating a sustainable future. This commitment comes to life through our on-the-ground projects, and nowhere is this work more vital than at our safari lodges in the Manyeleti Game Reserve.
To address the profound challenges of poverty and a lack of opportunity, we have partnered with Abundant Village. This collaboration is founded on co-creation, working with local communities to develop impactful programs focused on:
Tintswalo has proudly contributed to the dehorning of around 30 rhinos in the Manyeleti. Critically, we bring local schoolchildren to witness these efforts, creating powerful educational moments and fostering the next generation of conservation ambassadors. This extends to programs for local police, SAPS officials, and school principals to ensure community-wide alignment on wildlife protection.
For over eight years, we have collaborated with the MPTA to bring children from local villages into the reserve. Through game drives and engaging discussions, they learn firsthand about saving rhinos and other wildlife, fostering a deep connection to their natural heritage.
From clearing the reserve's fence line to create fire breaks and detection zones, to our Maize Meal Program that supplied 30 schools with food during COVID-19, we are committed to direct community support. We also contribute to local entrepreneurs and have partnered on major fence projects with organisations like GKEPF and WWF.
Our dedication to sustainability extends to waste management. We collect plastic waste and repurpose it into durable building materials, reducing pollution while supporting community construction projects.
We invite you to join us in making a difference. Your support helps us continue our mission to uplift communities, promote conservation, and create sustainable solutions for future generations across all our properties.
